Who was the first writer to have known? Have you met other authors?
The first author I met was Art Rodriguez who is the author of East Side Dreams, The Monkey Box, forgotten memories, and The Oldies But Goodies. The first was about 2 Years Old when he passed His Life in prison for murder. He was arrested and released to 16 in 18. The others are on the family history from the 19th century in Mexico, childhood memories and memories after leaving prison. He came to my school in late February and I signed books for him. I was at my school for 2 days. You have no idea how exciting it was to meet my first author and a well also. In Anyway, lives in San Jose, California. I have relatives there. The author, Nancy Farmer, who wrote The House of the Scorpion lives only a city where I am far from living, is famous. VIVA LA RAZA!
When I lived in Atlanta, my company had accounts with booksellers who attended and invited several signings. I was totally surprised to sit here trying to answer this question and I do not remember that the authors had the opportunity to meet briefly. If their names come to me, I'll be back and add on. The one I'll always remember, however, Margaret Anne Barnes. She has lived in Decatur, GA, and I really enjoyed it. She was a charming and interesting. The first night we met, we had an animated conversation on the Russian tea on crime in the South. He was a journalist and author of true crime classic, Murder in Coweta County, and had just published his autobiography, a vulture is my best friend, one of my favorites. I was saddened to learn that she died the year last.
