Do you believe John Brown was a good or bad man?
I think he was good for the fact that he opposed slavery and tried to get it banned. But he didn’t have to kill people to get his wish. I think he went a bit overboard sometimes, but he was okay. What do you think?
I have to do a Free response essay in AP History on why john brown was or wasn’t a terrorist, and i wanted some people’s opinions on him so i can start an outline.
John Brown was the worst kind of bad man — an individual who was animated by a basically laudable goal (the abolition of slavery) but who allowed himself to be blinded by His Own delusional self-righteousness, and who, as a result, produced works of evil that were equal to any of those whose actions he was fighting against.
He succumbed to the most damning of rationalizations — “The end justifies the means.”
Without doubt, the road to Hell is paved with this excuse.
