Financial Struggle

Dear Lord, I am requesting prayer for a financial increase.  My main struggle in life is my finances.  My husband and I both work  (opposite shifts) and we still struggle.  We have 3 children whom we never spend quality time with, we never vacation, I am never happy because I'm so depressed because of our financial situation.  We were blessed with a house that requires major work (that we can't afford), our vehicles are on their last rides, our children need warm clothes, we are behind in our bills, WE NEED A MAJOR FINANCIAL BREAKTHROUGH!!!!

Please keep praying daily.  All go through tough time, but God will carry you through.  My family almost had to go to homeless shelter one time.  I worked as nurse and husband in law enforcement opposite shifts of each other so we could avoid child care and we both had to go on disability at one time causing our income to go down to about 1/4 of what we were living off of.  Prayer is the answer.

I will share a little testament from my own life. My husband and I have been in a constant state of financial problems since we got married. We loaded ourselves down with bills and would often go 2 weeks with no money at all, trying to figure out how to keep the kids fed. We recently encountered this sermon at our church about tithing. The preacher said that God wants us to tithe 10% of our income every month. This enraged us because if we tithe 10%, it means no groceries or that the bills don't get paid. There is just no way. Well, after a lot of prayer and reading about tithing, we decided that it truly was the right thing to do. We still couldn't afford 10% but we could manage 5%, so we starting tithing. I am being completely serious when I tell you what happened next. Literally within a month of starting to tithe, my husband's step mom and father contact us and tell us that they want to pay off our debt so that we can buy a house. They gave us $30,000 to pay off car loans and credit cards so that we could get our credit to a good place to qualify for a home loan. We were completely blown away by what God had provided. I realize now, that through all of those years of us struggling, we were not following God's commandments and giving to him. We were very stingy with our money, always holding on to every penny because we had so very little. There is a story in the bible of people going to the temple to put money into the offering boxes. There were rich people who came with their entire entourage and great attention was drawn to how much they threw into the offering. Jesus was sitting in the temple watching people give and he saw this little old woman who only had 2 coins to her name. She was a widow and didn't have any way to work or the support of a husband. Her coins, in that time, where worth less than one of our pennies. Those two coins meant the difference between her eating or not. She went up to the offering plates and gave everything she had to God. She loved and trusted God enough to give without resentment or without wanting something for herself. She gave everything she had. When Jesus saw this is said that the rich men gave out of their wealth but the poor woman gave out of her poverty, gave everything she had, and that meant more than the larger amounts the rich men gave. The rich men only gave some but kept some for themselves. The poor woman gave alll she had out of faith and kept nothing for herself.Do you and your family tithe to God? Believe me, I know what it is like to look at tithing and go "that is rediculous" when you are struggling to pay the bills or eat but as in the life of the widow in the bible, when me and my family gave out of our poverty to God, he blessed us beyond anything that we could ever imagine, much less deserve. Now, the hardest part of this for me was getting to a place inside where I could tithe without thinking "what great reward am I going to get for this?". I wanted to give without expecting anything in return but God does say in the bible to test him in this area. If you don't believe anything good will come to you from tithing, go ahead and test him and see how he works in your life. So I am saying to you, if you are struggling so much but asking God for help, are you giving to God in the first place? If not, you should and see how he blesses you. Give as much as you possibly can and give with a happy heart, knowing that through your poverty you are still obeying him and he will bless you.

Your financial situation is a distraction to keep you from giving God your all in praise.  Learn to praise God in your barren land.  Show Him how much you trust Him and not your job and the hours that you work.  The word says that it is God that gives the increase.  Trust Him.  Put Him first.  Give Him your firstfruits:  your time, your tithes, your everything; and watch Him work!  KLR
